Cryptocurrency Mining Through Laptop

Cryptocurrency mining is now a very competitive business and people are looking for alternative ways to mine. Bitcoins are mined using Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs).

ASICs have are 100 times better at mining bitcoin than the very best of GPUs. It is almost impossible to mine bitcoin using GPUs. In a bid to get alternative means of mining cryptocurrencies, some people have resorted to laptops.

People willing to do mining using their laptops, are advised to mine altcoins. This is because most altcoins can be manufactured using the computers GPU rigs and can mine the most profitable altcoin at the time of mining. The GPU mining rigs contain 6 GPUs with a power source or supply and a motherboard.

Getting the right rig therefore, makes it possible for someone to mine altcoins and make profits.

When mining cryptocurrencies, it is the GPU that is of most importance but when it comes to bitcoin, even the most powerful and high end GPU it cannot serve the purpose. And like mentioned above, mining bitcoins requires a more dedicated hardware, ASICs. It has been exclusively designed to mine bitcoins.
When mining smaller coins like Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero and many others, someone would have to conduct a well thought of research. Crypto miners have therefore resorted to investing in high end cards like GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080. There is also the GTX 1050 one, just that it is not as popular because in terms of functionality, it is less powerful.

This means that although it can still mine, it will take much time compared to GTX 1060, 1070 and 1080.

Having a more powerful GPU however, does not mean that all is completely fine. This is because apart from the GPUs, there are other very important considerations that the miner must be aware of. One such considerations is the heat. Unlike desktops, running laptops consistently over a long period of time can be very damaging to the machine even when MSI’s Cooler Booster are used.
Another point of consideration when mining at home with a laptop is the cost of electricity. When miming cryptocurrencies, electricity will be very expensive. And despite the fact that the miner is optimistic of making profits from doing the mining business, the cryptocurrency business is unpredictable and therefore its sustainability is not assured. So the miner cannot quite depend on the cryptocurrency profits to cater for the extremely high electricity expenses, or other reasonable expenses for that matter. If the price of the electricity bill becomes higher than the amount of profits the miner has made from mining cryptos, then it may not be a worth course to continue undertaking.

In conclusion, mining from your laptop may not be such a bad idea after all. Only that it requires patience because its sustainability is unknown. It also has the capability of damaging your machine and you may end up spending more than you are making. And whether you still have other sources of income, weigh your options.
