Bitmain, one of the largest companies manufacturing Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency ASIC miners, released a new 96KHS ASIC miner for Bytom (BTM). The device is called Antminer B7 and is the successor of the Antminer B3 that was released a year ago with only 708 H/s of hash rate and 360 Watts of power usage.
Bitmain Releases the New Antminer B7
The new Antminer B7 is available on the Chinese website of Bitmain and it is expected to deliver 96 KHS hash rate and power usage. The price of this Antminer is currently close to $1500 or 9900 Chinese Yuan. However, with delivery and further taxes, the cost to bring one of these devices to Europe or the United States could increase its price to over $2,000.
The GPU market has also evolved very positively in order for users to start mining with GPU hardware rather than with ASIC. BTM mining is profitable with GPU and users can still have relatively good profits.
The NBMiner 21.0 GPU miner built for Bytom (BTM) is also capable of delivering 3.4 KHS for a GTX 1070 Ti, 5 KHS for the GTX 1080 Ti and also 11.5 KHS for the GTX 2080. In this case, a mining rig of eight GTX 2080 GPUs will be needed to have a similar hash rate to the one provided by the new Antminer B7. The main difference is that it will be much more costly and consume a lot of energy.
Bytom is the 57th largest digital currency in the market according to CoinMarketCap. Each BTM coin can be purchased for $0.0939 and it has a market valuation of $94.1 million. The network could receive an important hash rate increase with the new miners released by Bitmain.
Bitmain has been experiencing some issues with its company, even with its once famed CEO Jihan Wu. The last year was very negative for the firm due to the bear market that affected the whole industry. Due to this situation, two offices, one in Israel and another one in Amsterdam were closed.
